Surel's Place honors the legacy of artist Surel Mitchell by offering her home and studio to artists of promise, and of renown, for month-long residencies and professionally supported art events. In this inspiring live/work space, artists of all disciplines are given time and freedom to reflect, create, and share their work with the community. This year, Surel's Place celebrates it's 13th season, and will have Laurie Shapiro in residence during the BOSCO Open Studios Tour.
Laurie Shapiro (b. Mineola, NY, 1990) creates immersive dreamscapes based on interconnectivity and oneness with nature. She received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012 and studied abroad at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in 2011.
